Project Red indicated there were primarily two principles that Leadership impacted the successful implemenatation of any technological change.  They are:

• "Leaders provide time for teacher professional learning and collaboration at least monthly.
• Principal training: Principals are trained in teacher buy-in, best practices, and technology-transformed learning."

I feel this PLU could be steps to the second principle, or at least I think so.

Learning in "No Administrators Left Behind...Tech"

• The first night I found the site www.wordle.net very interesting.  I need more time to experiment with it, but I am waiting for the best time to share this with a few of my colleagues.  I hope they will find it useful with their students.
• The experience of "flipped" instruction was a bit frustrating.  Being from the "old" method/media/text, I prefer "hard text" to read.  I have difficulty reading lots of articles from a computer screen.  This is way I haven't tried ereader and such.
• (10-4-12) I shared with a couple of middle school teachers "wordle" today.  I gave them ideas of what I thought would relate to the curriculum they taught and then I shared what Vickey had done in our PLU class.  They really were impressed with the presidential candidate speech idea.  I think the History teacher may actually give that a try!

We did a "boot camp" last Tuesday night using iPads.  I hope we will "slow" down a bit and take one or two things a little more deeply.   I would like to brainstorm how the iPads could be used as described in the Project Red principles.

We worked with googledocs. last night with Vickey.  I think I could use this.  Need a lot more practice though.

This does not have anything to do with an article I've read or technology, but this is one educator that can tell we did not have a fall break...it is written all over the students and teachers.

How is the "Google Hangout" didn't from SKYE is what I'm wondering now.  Also the "twitter" language made me think about having to learn CB language!  Another last thought for this evening, is the "Google Hangout" just another way for a webinar to be conducted?  The only real difference I could see is limiting the number.

When viewing one of the video assignments titled "TedXUIUC-Sherry Turkle---Alone Together", my thoughts began to revert to times that I have seen parents and professionals try to address students and others while  texting, checking emails, etc.  How sad that a human contact has been cheapened by a "machine".  No wonder professional relationships and marriage relationships are so strained.  No wonder there is such a high divorce rate.

Still trying to utilize Pinterest.  Several colleagues seem to get great ideas from this.  I just haven't seemed to pick of the "knack" for it yet.  I guess I will get with a couple to get them to mentor me through it.

I just read an article titled "Does the use of Twitter Improve Education?" in SmartBrief on EdTech  Interestingly this person's perspective indicated it all depends on the reason and the learner.   This author (principal) indicated such in two varying scenarios .  First just following a basketball team just because it was his favorite team and to say he followed a Twitter.  In the second scenario the person was following a Tweet concerning trends in education and made tweets concerning their own learning utilizing such trends.  In concluding the use of twitter the principal says, "engaging in Twitter will work for one person, and will not work for another depending upon their use of it. But if I am engaged more in my learning than I ever have been, while also sharing what I am learning with others, doesn’t that say that “Twitter” works? It does to (and for) me. Do we really need more data?  If more teachers focused on being true lifelong learners while sharing that learning openly, don’t you think education would improve?  I know what I would put my money on."
